A boring post.
I'm in the midst of reading 8 books... 2 of them on my own, the rest required readings for classes. The 2 elective readings have gone nowhere in the past 2 months.

5 of them belong to an international political economics course, and the instructor assigns sporadic chapters, so I don't know if it even makes sense to say I'm reading 5 books. At some point, they all start to blur. Still, saying "I'm reading 8 books" gives me a bigger ego-boost than saying "I'm reading 1 book, small parts of 5 books, and stopped reading 2 books."
I am enjoying the Rwanda genocide book by Mamdani, which is a reading in my intro sociology class, but it's another academic book and the level of the reading is set pretty high, at similar level to
The Taming of the Samurai, which was another reading for the same class.

My girlfriend is always picking on me because I read several books at once. I think I'm in the middle of something like eight or seven right now.
How is the global econ class going? I bet there is a lot to talk about right now.
@PilgrimOfTruth - Going well! Too much is happening these days, and the class meets only once a week, so we spend 2/3 of the class time discussing current events.
Today was all about China! One person brought up China's demand for creating SDR (special drawing rights) as an global currency instead of depending on US dollar, which is Joseph Stiglitz's point in his book Making Globalization Work, one of our required readings. Establishing a stable global currency would be a good thing globally, but in the short run it would make the financial market even less stable because the world has so much dollar holdings, and US would be hurt especially. I asked the instructor how he would advise Obama on this issue (another person brought up how Geitner's little comment made the dollar go crazy in the last two days). He did not answer my question.
Hold his feet to the fire. I want to know how he would advise Obama! ;) Just kidding, don't make your professor mad.
How would you advise him?
Just checking in, spreading the love. *yawn*
